I'm thinking about doing a huge piece of paper like this even though this small one took forever and was not too fun to do. I like how it looks.

This was a theme I gave my students to create a drawing around this past quarter, so I thought I would do it too.

I decided to be illustrative and a tiny bit conceptual. I went with a lightbulb and light as a feather.

Inspired by Jaime

I was at the New York Comic Con this past weekend and I found a huge book with drawings by Jaime Hernandez. It was hardcover, really cheap, and signed so I had to have it. I know he is one of the most famous and best comic artists, but I haven't really seen his stuff. (I'm relatively new to comic art.) I love the way he draws women. They are beautiful and sensual without so much of the feeling of the male gaze. Here's my drawing of some of his women. Mine aren't nearly as beautiful as his however...

Inspiration in Unlikely Places

Who knew that comic artists, such as those in Mad Magazine, were inspired by Balinese Shadow Puppet Theatre?

I saw this at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC in the section about Bali.

...but this is all I have had time to work on lately besides freelance stuff.
