Art is Movement

If you scroll up and down fast it looks like it's moving even more than it is.

I'll show it the proper way once I get the bulletin board up.

Art is...

I have been using bulletin boards as teaching tools so far this year...who knows if it is working. Here is my "Art is..." bulletin board, and my Media bulletin board, and my elements/principles of design bulletin board (which we are not through learning about yet.)

My camera stinks!

My Actual Movement Artwork

Sorry for the poor quality images. This camera is hit or miss. I will try to take a good picture when I am finished painting it.

Skater Abstract Movement

My students will be doing this soon, but not digitally. They will be doing it with paint. Old School!

(Eww, my colors look funky online. Oh well.)

This is my favorite tessellation I have done in a while.

Bitten by the Doodle Bug

Taking the bus is new for me, so this is what I do on the bus home from work.

Bat Buddies

I couldn't resist...they're just so cute and together they're cuter!

No. 4 is getting there! I'm excited to be this far while being this busy.

Save the Bats!

This is my little buddy. He's precious, I know. We need to do all we can to save him from white nose fungus, or whatever it is that is killing all east coast bats!

Cars For The Next Background

This is not finished, but is evidence that I am working bit by bit.

Sewing

Here's the main project I'm working on now. I'm teaching myself to sew, which is not necessarily one of my strengths, but I'm enjoying myself through the process. It just stinks that Jo-Ann Fabric is forty minutes from my house! When I need something I usually have to wait a few days to get it. I will of course post this when finished, even if it is a disaster.

Science Drawing

This is not about one specific area, or theory of science, but it is about science in general, and the process of graphing and charting the ways various things work.

Friend #3

Here is number 3! This drawing is a bit more expressive than realistic because I exaggerated her facial features a bit to heighten the expression.

Can everyone out there tell that she was a drama major in college?

Entry Denied

When I think of hierarchies, I think of closed doors, and elite access at the upper levels. The word hierarchy also makes me think of the military for some reason...entry denied to parts of different hierarchical systems.

Another Preview

Like I said, this has a very different feel than the last two. Be aware, and beware!

Student-Chosen Word This Week: Mythical

Here is my mythical beast for the word of the week in drawing class.

Self-Portrait When I Was Little

Don't mind the misplaced modifier in the title. It's a self-portrait of when I was little, drawn now.

Couple More Tweaks On the Background

There are a couple more tweaks on the background needed before it is finished, but I will be starting on the figure this week.

Background Beginning

I may end up blurring this out a bit, but you can see how it looks as a crisp, clear image. I believe there will be more lights in the night sky to the right as well.

Consume

My students are choosing the words for their weekly creative drawings. Here is my homework from this week's word, chosen by a student in my drawing class.
