Silkscreen Print Survey

A friend told me she didn't want to vote without knowing what the designs looked like.

A collage like print would look like Jan. 8, 2009
The frog and an old crabfest tee design (I haven't done a new design yet) are on my design website http://web.mac.com/swieringa under t-designs
The lion print is from Combining Blogs June 8, 2007

New Painting

I have just begun a new painting. It is the end of the semester, so I probably will not finish it very quickly, but 'tis the first step.

BTW: This is my 100th post! Yay!
(On this blog at least.)

Paper Garbage Series

I know I could take this much farther, but this is what I have done in the past year.

Everytime I see a crinkled piece of paper I envision a whole gallery full of drawings, and works of art based on them. Now, I just have 100 more works to make! Then I have to find a gallery that would be interested :)

Silk Screen Print #2

I guess this would have shown up better with black ink...you live, you learn.

American Dream: Silk Screen Print

It worked very well for 8-month-old emulsion! I will be printing it on different papers, and fabrics with various colors in the next week.

I Wish I Was A Baller

(Make sure your sound is on.)

I'll leave y'all with a little Skee-Lo

"I wish I was little bit taller,
I wish I was a baller,
I wish I had a girl who looked good
I would call her
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat
and a 64' Impala

I wish I was like six-foot-nine
So I can get with Leoshi
Cause she don't know me but yo she's really fine
You know I see her all the time
Everywhere I go, and even in my dreams
I can scheme a way to make her mine
Cause I know she's livin phat
Her boyfriend's tall and he plays ball
So how am I gonna compete with that..."

Ah, brings me back to high school..

Growth

This is a work I created, which was inspired by Andy Goldsworthy. The words are an almost quotation of something Goldsworthy has said.

Similar

This is similar to another work I have done, or rather the same piece taken further. And the man's reflection is similar to his person.

I think the addition of the water makes the work more contemplative.

Polka Dot Frog

I'm thinking about creating a print of this. If I ever do, I will post it here. Here's my Photoshop/Illustrator plan. You can see I used my original frog Illustrator drawing.

The Original T-shirt

Here is where I began with the design I posted yesterday. This is the t-shirt I made last June before going back to Budapest. It turns out it was unseasonably hot when I was there, so I couldn't wear it. I can wear it now here. It's chilly.

I (Heart) Buda & Pest!

The circle really is the hardest shape to design a composition on successfully. This is a variation of a t-shirt design I have made. The circle composition is for pins and stickers rather than t-shirts

If anyone wants a pin, let me know you can get one for $1.00!

Mice, Mice, Everywhere

I have been having a problem with mice in my house lately. Here is a tessellation in response to this problem.

Better?

I think this is better. I know it's only a thumbnail, but it helps to see how it will read. Let me know if you agree or disagree.

Choose Your Own Genre

I have decided that I'm going to create illustrations based on the morals from Aesop's Fables, but they are also going to be based on the idea that the "choose your own adventure" books began. You can choose which genre you would like to look at/read. I have three planned out. Here is the thumbnail of the first title box.

I need to make the genre text have less contrast so it blends in more with the background. I don't want it to have the same visual weight as the beginning of the moral.

I'm excited about this. It's a fun creative endeavor.

My New Logo

The new logo for my non-existent business. It makes me feel better when I have a bad teaching-day to think up a dream job.

I just take it a bit further by sketching out logos on my computer...
