Pet Peeve

It drives me crazy when I am searching for something that has been right in front of me all along...that is one of my pet peeves.

Genius!! Wish I'd thought of this. Reminds me of Joseph Cornell.

The door is from a church in lower Manhattan.

Thank you for the wonderful compliment! I love Joseph Cornell, but every time I see his work I think, "I could never do that."

What an original treatment of an all-too-familiar situation!

This is a cool piece of art. Collage like Jasper Johns and Rauschenberg's work. I like the "big mistakes" eraser. Very cool. How big is that? It looks very big compared to the door.

I love this illustration! It reminds me of Joseph Cornell too, I think the assemblage works because it looks unstudied and almost accidental. A sense of humor is always attractive too...
thanks for your nice comments on my work.

This was great fun to create. It's actually a photo I took for a trompe l'oeil assignment this fall for my drawing class. These are just random objects from around my art room, so Tatjana is right, it is quite accidental and unstudied. The Big Mistakes eraser is the most popular eraser in my room...it is about 2"x4".
The things I added to express my pet peeve are myself climbing up on my old glasses with a key in my hand, the note on the top that says map here, the pen-drawn arrow down, and the door from lower Manhattan.

Nice image collage. Yes, I agree. Sometimes what you want is right under your nose and you are somehow blind to it. Good work.
