Teacher Appreciation Week

NAHS students made teacher appreciation posters for all of my colleagues. I made a few as examples.

Stencil Self-Portrait

Highlights: Find the lightest areas of an image and cut them out.

Spray or brush the light color in the highlight shapes.

Shadows: Find the darkest values in an image. It helped me to draw over them with a black marker.

Cut dark shadows out.

Line up your image with the first stencil color. Spray or brush through the stencil. 

Now you have an image with highlights, mid-tones, and shadows. I think my mid-tones are a bit dark here, so it's not as successful as it could be.

Music Painting

This is the painting assignment my students are working on right now. Here are some process pictures of my painting.

Requirements:

1. Must be based on at least one aspect of music. Either an artist, a favorite song, or an issue important in the music industry.
2. Must contain the silhouette of at least part of a person.
3. Must show some different painting techniques.
